The fact that fish DHA fats are good for you is well known today even though we cannot eat so much due to the contamination, but did you realize just how important the DHA factor really is?

The two main omega 3 fats are DHA and EPA and recent research shows us that it is the DHA omega 3 fatty acids that are responsible for most of the benefits, especially heart and brain health and no wonder considering our brains are composed of over 30% DHA fats!

Unfortunately most of the supplements on the market today contain much more EPA as it is far cheaper to produce and many are not up with current research.

This would result in you losing much of the impact that these wonderful oils can have. Protection from heart disease, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, treatment of arthritis and psoriasis and correct brain functioning and mental well-being to name a few.

When it comes to DHA brain function, these fatty acids are essential as we cannot make them ourselves so they must come from our diet. You can help to avoid many degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and also common depressions by keeping you omega 3 levels as they should be.

It is a fact that over 90% of the population is deficient in these essential oils!

No other natural substance on earth can compare to fish DHA when it comes to the wide range of health benefits to be had.

The only safe way to get the full benefits is by taking a daily supplement and this is also the recommendation of experts as fresh fish today contains so much contamination like mercury, arsenic and lead.

It is essential to make sure any fish DHA supplement has been molecularly distilled to ensure all the impurities have been removed leaving only pure concentrated oil and you are not unwittingly ingesting any toxins.

It can be quite a challenge to actually find an oil with a higher level of DHA than EPA but look for a 2:1 ratio of DHA to EPA and at least 250mg of DHA per capsule or soft gel for the maximum impact.

Now that you know what to look for you can soon start enjoying all the many health benefits that fish DHA provides, with none of the risks.

You may have heard all the benefits you can derive by taking omega-3 fish oil supplement; however there are important things you need to know before choosing and buying any particular brand. This is because all supplements are not equal; some are more effective and some could even be harmful to you.

The benefits of omega-3 fatty acids include, helping to maintain a healthy heart by reducing triglycerides, bad cholesterol and high blood pressure. It also helps to prevent hearth attack and stroke by preventing the blood platelets from sticking together.

Other benefits include enhanced brain functions such as learning, concentration and memory; it is also good for arthritis, type 2 diabetes, allergies, vision, skin, hair, nails and the list could go on.

All these benefits are derived form the two important components of omega3 called DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid). These two fatty acids are the reason why fish oil is the best source of omega 3; however DHA is more important than EPA. Docosahexaenoic acid can easily be turned into Eicosapentaenoic acid but the reverse is not achievable because while the former has 22 carbon chains, the latter has 20.

Deficiency in DHA has also been shown to lead to brain related diseases such as ADD, ADHD, Alzheimer’s and mood swings; this is because 30% of your brain is made up of DHA.

Hence, the best omega-3 fish oil supplement is one that contains higher amount of DHA than EPA; it is actually recommended that it should be twice the amount of EPA (about 250mg of DHA per 1000mg fish oil capsule)

Another important thing you need to know is that most of the supplements on the market contain toxins such as mercury, PCBs and other contaminants due to contaminated fish caught from polluted waters. In order to buy omega-3 fish oil supplement that is pure and safe for your consumption; you need to find one that is molecularly distilled. This is the only method that guarantees that the toxins are separated from the oil.

There is no doubt that there are many benefits you can derive from taking omega3 but you need to buy the right brand; visit my website to discover the pure and DHA enriched omega-3 fish oil supplement I personally take.

Did you know that your body needs omega3 oils in order to function well? Yes that is the truth, omega 3 is one of the essential fatty acids your body needs but cannot manufacture. Its deficiency has been connected to several diseases including heart disease and brain disorders.

Good and bad fats

There are good fats and bad ones; artificial trans-fatty acids and saturated fats from animal products are bad and should be consumed minimally. Essential fatty acids such as omega3 oils (n-3) and omeag6 (n-6) are good because your body needs them.

However too much of omega6 is also not good because studies show that its metabolism can cause conditions such as blood clotting, inflammation and tumors; meanwhile the metabolism of omega-3 does the opposite. That is why balanced consumption of the two fatty acid groups is necessary. The ratio of omega 6:3 should be about 2:1 or even lower.

Source of benefits

Omega-3 is made up of DHA, EPA and DPA but derives its benefits mainly from DHA and EPA. Fish oil is the best source of n-3 because it contains DHA and EPA; plants contains ALA which your body has to convert to DHA and EPA before it could be used. Studies also show that such conversions are not efficient.

Benefits

Research has shown that Eskimos have low incidence of heart disease even though they eat high fat diets; this has been attributed to the fact that they consume lots of omega3 oils. DHA and EPA have been shown to be beneficial to those with arteriosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and depression.

Studies have linked low levels of DHA to conditions such as Attention Deficiency Syndrome (ADD) in children and Alzheimer’s in the elderly; regular intake of omega3 oils has also led to remarkable improvements in those with such conditions. This is because 30% of the human brain is made up of DHA, which helps to enhance brain functions such as memory, learning and concentration.

Depression, anxiety and mood swings are also ameliorated by regular consumption this essential fatty acid.

The anti-inflammatory properties of DHA omega3 also helps to alleviate the pains and stiffness associated with arthritis; it is also helpful for Irritable Bowel syndrome (IBS).

To enjoy all these and other benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, you need to take fish oil supplements that are molecularly distilled. This is because fish contain impurities such as lead, mercury and other pollutants due to the pollutions in the oceans. However, molecular distillation is the only method that separates the contaminants from the oil.

You should also buy supplements that contain more of DHA than EPA (at least 250mg of DHA per capsule of 1000mg fish oil).

Now that you know why you need to take omega3 oils , visit my website to learn about the pure omega-3 supplements every one in my family takes; it is also rich in DHA.

You’re not quite ready to believe the hype about the benefits of Omega 3 fish oils yet are you?

Many of us have heard all about Omega 3 fats and the health benefits that you’re supposed to get from fish oil supplements. But what are the benefits and are they proven? And should you be taking Omega 3 capsules, or can you just eat more fish?

These are good questions and ones that I will be trying to answer here. Are the benefits of fish oils really “proven’ or are the benefits really just illusory or “alternative”? Not accepted by modern medicine.

The simple answer is this. The AHA (American Heart Association) tell us that we should be taking more Omega 3 fatty acids into our diets and recommends a minimum amount of fish to eat each week. Now the AHA is no alternative organization, it’s pretty mainstream and if they tell me that Omega 3 fats are good for my heart I’ll believe them.

Leta have a look at what more fish oil does for us. It’s full of good stuff like DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). These are the most essential  Omega 3 fats, DHA in particular. Is it “proven”that these are good for you? When is anything proven? I still know a mainstream doctor who says that excess cholesterol isn’t bad for you at all. There’s always experts on both sides of the argument.

1. Cardio vascular health.

A decrease in bad cholesterol. An increase in good cholesterol. A reduction in blood pressure. A reduced risk of stroke. Those are the big heart health benefits of Omega 3 fats.

2. Reduction in risks of aging related problems

The risks of ill health rise with age, and Omega 3 fats can assist with this. Benefits include a decrease in the risk of macular degeneration with age, the number one cause of blindness in the over 65s A decrease in the risk of Alzheimers with aging A decrease in the risk of dementia with aging

And as fish oil reduces the risks of heart attacks this is extremely good news for sufferers of diabetes, who have up to a 6 fold increase in risk of death due to heart attack.

3. And there’s skin improvements.

There are many natural oils in our skin and these can be stripped out by the natural environment. Sun, wind and so on. The polyunsaturated fats in Omega 3 fish oils can help return good health to our skin by adding good oils back into it and this has to be good for your skin. Combine this with good skin care and your skin will thank you for it.

4. An improvement in Arthritis

Arthritis is inflammation of the joints and so anything that helps reduce that inflammation helps arthritis. In the past Aspirin has been prescribed but it can have negative health side effects. Omega 3 oils have been shown to much better anti inflammatory properties than Aspirin, and they have positive health side effects, not negative ones.

5. An increase in the effectiveness of weight loss programs

Studies have shown that if we combine Omega 3 supplements with exercise in a weight loss program we will lose more weight than if we do the same exercise but without the fish oils. It’s thought the reason is that the polyunsaturated fats increase the ability of enzymes to burn fat.

So are you convinced now that you should be taking more Omega 3 fats in your diet? I thought so, if what I’ve written here isn’t enough to convince you then I don’t know what it.

But remember, it’s hard to get enough good fats from eating fish alone. You need to eat a lot of fish and the FDA tells us not to eat a lot of fish because of the risk of toxins from the flesh of the fish. And the same risk exists with some fish oil supplements. And fish is the biggest source of DHA and EPA that we know of.

The best way to satisfy the need for Omega 3 fish oils is to take Omega 3 supplements, but beware, some fish oil supplements are better than others. I won’t go into which ones here, find out more on my website.

And I write more extensively on my website about the benefits of Omega 3 fish oils too.

So if you’re convinced about the health benefits of Omega 3 fish oils in your diet make sure you’re taking your fish oil supplements, daily.

Are you looking for the best fish oil? I guess you do, that is why you are reading this article. You are at the right place because I am going to give you information that will help you make the right choice. So, read on and arm yourself with the necessary weapon (information) you need as an informed consumer.

The reality is that there are so many brands on the market competing for your money; hence if you do not know how to differentiate the good fish oil from the bad, you are most likely going to buy the wrong one.

Fish oil supplementation is the best way to get omega3 fatty acid; it is more convenient, safer and cheaper. The omega 3 content of fishoil contains DHA and EPA from which the numerous benefits of omega3 are derived. Plants such as flaxseed contain ALA which has to be converted to DHA or EPA before your body can use it. The bad news is, these conversions are very restricted.

However, there are some minor avoidable shortcomings of fishoil; I said avoidable because if you buy the right brand you will not experience such problems.

1. Hence, one of the attributes of the best fish oil is purity; fish are contaminated with toxins such as mercury, PCBs, pesticides and other heavy metals because of pollutions in our waterways. Meaning that most of the supplements on the market contain these impurities. So to avoid this problem, you need to buy a supplement that is well purified using the method of molecular distillation. This method ensures that the toxins are removed from the oil making it pure enough for human consumption.

2. Another quality of the best fish oil supplement is that it contains higher amount of DHA than EPA (about double the amount of EPA). DHA is more important because it can be converted to EPA when your body needs it but the opposite is not possible. The recommended amount of DHA per capsule of 1000mg fishoil is 250mg. It is very unfortunate that most of the supplements contain more of EPA because it is easier to concentrate.

Do not buy any brand that does not specify the amounts of DHA and EPA contained.

3. Freshness is also another attribute of the best fish oil; fish oil is easily oxidized leading to rancidity. Fresh fishoil does not have ‘fishy’ or rancid smell even if you cut open the capsule. If it smells rancid that means that the oil has been oxidized. Rancid oil is bad for your health; not only does it cause ‘burping’ (after taste), it increases free radicals in your body, thereby causing diseases and premature aging.

If you apply these three criteria when shopping, you will surely find the best fish oil supplement. Visit my website to learn about the pure omega-3 fish oil supplement I personally take; it contains 280mg of DHA per capsule.
